Angelo Badalamenti – Blue Velvet (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) - Deluxe Edition

 


Originally released in 1986, the soundtrack/score to the David Lynch movie "Blue Velvet" was one of  Angelo Badalamenti's earliest productions. A dark, atmospheric and dramatic score, it still holds up well today even amongst other contemporary releases. This deluxe edition release is one for the completists and die-hard Angelo Badalamenti fans.

Ry Cooder – Paris, Texas (Music From The Motion Picture) - remastered edition

 


Paris, Texas is a 1984 drama road film directed by Wim Wenders, co-written by Sam Shepard and L. M. Kit Carson, and produced by Don Guest. It stars Harry Dean Stanton, Nastassja Kinski, Dean Stockwell, Aurore Clément and Hunter Carson. In the film, disheveled recluse Travis Henderson (Stanton) reunites with his brother Walt (Stockwell) and son Hunter (Carson); Travis and Hunter then embark on a trip through the American Southwest to track down Travis' missing wife, Jane (Kinski).

At the 1984 Cannes Film Festival, it won the Palme d'Or from the official jury, as well as the FIPRESCI Prize and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. It went on to other honors and widespread critical acclaim praising mainly direction, acting, cinematography, emotional resonance and musical score.

Ryuichi Sakamoto, David Byrne and Cong Su – The Last Emperor

 

The Last Emperor is the soundtrack album for the film of the same name. It features nine pieces composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto, five by David Byrne, one from Cong Su, and a few incidental pieces of source music. The album won the Best Original Score award at the 1987 Academy Awards, and won the Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media award at the 31st Annual Grammy Awards in 1989.
