Down The Deep Dark Web (documentary) - original motion picture soundtrack - music by Frank Ilfman

Released in  2016, Down The Deep Dark Web has been described as a Gonzo-style exploration that goes beyond everything you thought you knew about the dangers, and promise, of the Darknet. Hackers, Cypherpunks and crypto-anarchists guide us ever deeper down this rabbit hole, uncovering the hidden light at the bottom of the deep, dark web. It reverses everything you thought you knew about the internet and the dangers of the digital world.

The soundtrack music is composed by Frank Ilfman, a highly talented composer whose music has been captivating audiences for years. With a background in classical music and a deep passion for electronics, Frank creates compositions that are both technically sophisticated and emotionally charged. His music has been described as a blend of new classical and emotional, lush soundscapes that transport listeners to another world.

This score is very electronic with downtempo beats combined with classical themes that make it highly listenable as a stand alone album from the documentary.

Nowhere Boy (Original Soundtrack From The Motion Picture)

Nowhere Boy is a 2009 British biographical drama film, directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson in her directorial debut. Written by Matt Greenhalgh, it is based on Julia Baird's biography of her half-brother, the musician John Lennon. The movie is about the teenage years of Lennon (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), his relationships with his aunt Mimi Smith (Kristin Scott Thomas) and his mother Julia Lennon (Anne-Marie Duff), the creation of his first band, The Quarrymen, and its evolution into The Beatles.

The soundtrack features several of the songs played by The Quarrymen at the time depicted in the film. New recordings were made featuring performances by Johnson and the Nowhere Boys. Thomas Brodie-Sangster was able to play the guitar before landing his role, but, as he is right-handed, learned how to play left-handed, à la McCartney. Producers negotiated with Yoko Ono for the rights to use Lennon's song "Mother" in the film, which Yoko gave after having watched a private screening of the movie.

Billie Holiday – Billie (The Original Soundtrack)

Billie is a 2019 documentary film about Billie Holiday, written and directed by British filmmaker James Erskine. The film is based around interviews recorded on audio cassettes through the 1970s by Linda Lipnack Kuehl, researching a book on Holiday that was never completed because of Kuehl's death in 1978: her body was found on a Washington D.C. street, and she was deemed to have died by suicide, although that supposition is disputed by her family. Erskine's documentary "is about both Holiday — as told through the voices of people who knew her — and Kuehl's obsession with crafting her biography."

Kuehl's interviews were with friends, family members, band members, peers from 1930s Harlem, piano players, psychiatrists and a pimp. Prominent figures from the jazz world who contributed recollections include Count Basie, Charles Mingus, Jo Jones and Sylvia Syms.

The film premiered at the Telluride Film Festival in September 2019.

Heavy Metal (Music From The Motion Picture) The Soundtrack & The Score

Heavy Metal is a 1981 Canadian adult animated science fantasy anthology film directed by Gerald Potterton (in his director debut) and produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel, who also was the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, which was the basis for the film. It starred the voices of Rodger Bumpass, Jackie Burroughs, John Candy, Joe Flaherty, Don Francks, Martin Lavut, Marilyn Lightstone, Eugene Levy, Alice Playten, Harold Ramis, Percy Rodriguez, Susan Roman, Richard Romanus, August Schellenberg, John Vernon, and Zal Yanovsky.

The film is an anthology of various science-fiction and fantasy stories tied together by a single theme of an evil force that is "the sum of all evils". It was adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity. Its production was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments.

Alfred Newman – How Green Was My Valley (1941)

How Green Was My Valley is a 1941 American drama film directed by John Ford, adapted by Philip Dunne from the 1939 novel of the same title by Richard Llewellyn. It stars Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O'Hara, Anna Lee, Donald Crisp, and a young Roddy McDowall.

It tells the story of the Morgans, a hard-working Welsh mining family, from the point of view of the youngest child Huw, who lives with his affectionate and kind parents as well as his sister and five brothers, in the South Wales Valleys during the late Victorian era. The story chronicles life in the South Wales coalfields, the loss of that way of life and its effects on the family.

The soundtrack was composed and conducted by Alfred Newman, who, at the time, had acquired a solid reputation as a musician with a marked intelligence in supplying films with music. In his career he had amassed a total of 46 Oscar nominations, resulting in nine Oscars, the most so far won by any individual in film history.
