Michael Hodges & Gerald Trottman – Blade Runner Black Lotus (Original Score)

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is an animated television series based on the Blade Runner franchise, which itself is based on the 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. The series aired from November 2021 to February 2022. Black Lotus takes place in Los Angeles in 2032, ten years into the aftermath of Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, but before 2036: Nexus Dawn, and centers on a female replicant protagonist. It also includes "familiar" characters from the Blade Runner universe.

The musical score by Michael Hodges & Gerald Trottman is an ambient/electronic production that pays homage to the original movie score by Vangelis with powerful beats and synthesizers combined with a dark classical theme.

This is a digital release only and not available on CD.

Peter Gabriel – Passion - Music For The Last Temptation Of Christ

Passion (re-released as Passion: Music for The Last Temptation of Christ) is an album released in 1989 by the English singer-songwriter Peter Gabriel. It was the first Peter Gabriel album to be released on Real World Records. It is his second soundtrack and eighth album overall. It was originally composed as the soundtrack album for the film The Last Temptation of Christ, but Gabriel spent several months after the film's release further developing the music, finally releasing it as a full-fledged album instead of a movie soundtrack. It is seen as a landmark in the popularisation of world music, and won a Grammy Award for Best New Age Album in 1990.

As the soundtrack for the film, Gabriel used the resources of WOMAD, an organization he founded, to bring together musicians from the Middle East, Africa, Europe and South Asia. He worked with them to create music meant to enhance the mood of the film, but he also added a modern ambient musical touch to the original pieces, producing a musical work that has influenced many musicians. Passion introduced many listeners to such artists as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Youssou N'Dour, L. Shankar, and Baaba Maal.

1492 Conquest of Paradise music from the original soundtrack..composed and performed by Vangelis

Vangelis ‎– 1492 – Conquest Of Paradise (Music From The Original Soundtrack)
Genre: Electronic, Classical, Stage & Screen
Style: Soundtrack, Score, Instrumental, Modern Classical, Ambient
Year: 1992

1492: Conquest of Paradise is the 1992 music score to the film of the same name by Greek electronic composer and artist Vangelis. The film, a recount of the voyage to America in 1492 by Christopher Columbus, was directed by Ridley Scott, for whom Vangelis had previously composed the music score for Blade Runner, in 1982. The album and the single "Conquest of Paradise" enjoyed a revival in 1995 for various reasons and broke many sales records. Due to the soundtrack's success, Vangelis won an Echo Award as "International Artist Of The Year", and RTL Golden Lion Award for the "Best Title Theme for a TV Film or a Series" in 1996. The album was nominated for "Best Original Score - Motion Picture" at the 50th Golden Globe Awards in 1993.

Vangelis plays together with a number of performers, including two Flamenco guitarists and vocalists, violin, mandolin and flutes. As on a number of previous albums by Vangelis, the English Chamber Choir, directed by Guy Protheroe, performs the choral parts.

The sound engineering was done by Philippe Colonna and coordination by French musician Frederick Rousseau (also known for his collaborations with Jean-Michel Jarre), who has been Vangelis's studio partner since the 1980s till the recording of the Alexander soundtrack. Vangelis plays all synthesizers, using mainly string patches but also several ethnic ones, to reflect the character of the film, and electric piano and harp patches. Some calmer, atmospheric pieces (tracks 3, 7, 11 and 12) are entirely performed by Vangelis, using pianos, strings and harp. For the ethnic music, Vangelis consulted with French specialist Xavier Belanger, who has advised other artists on similar issues, including Jean-Michel Jarre.

Composer Chris Vibberts soundtrack album release "Passage"...music from the movie " Why Not Home?"

Composer Chris Vibberts recent album release "Passage" is the soundtrack for a film he scored called Why Not Home? The movie is about medical practitioners who chose to have their own births at home. Chris describes the score as "a melodic affair with lots of cello, marimba, acoustic guitar, and piano."

Chris Vibberts' work is heard in award winning short, animated, documentary and feature length films, as well as on TV. Chris records and performs with David J (Love and Rockets/Bauhaus) playing sitar, guitar, keyboards, lap steel, Melodica, & flute. He also releases ambient music as Chrystal Für.

Marty's review: "Passage" is a beautifully produced score that combines elements of ambient, classical, world and roots music to create themes of solitude, time passage, anticipation and thoughtfulness. The subtle and at times sombre compositions weave and ebb their way into soundscapes of imagination and curiosity taking the listener in to their own journey of the mind to places only they can conjure up.

The Killing Fields...original film soundtrack...music by Mike Oldfield

The Killing Fields (Original Film Soundtrack) was Mike Oldfield’s 10th studio album and soundtrack album to Roland Joffé’s drama film of the same name. Originally released on 26th November 1984, it spawned one single, Étude (Theme From The Killing Fields).

Mike Oldfield's first and really only venture into scoring a movie. It is a beautiful score with very emotionally charged music. The strong, unique, and sometimes stirring music covers a range from classical, to metallic, to light rock, to ethnic. Oldfield was reluctant to accept this assignment due to the nature of the film and his peaceful nature. He wanted to let people feel the horror of war, and was very successful. The music he created was powerful, and very ethereal in nature throughout the piece.

Aeon Flux...original motion picture soundtrack...music by Graeme Revell

Set 400 years in the future, disease has wiped out the majority of Earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. The story centers on Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron), the top operative in the underground "Monican" rebellion, led by the Handler (Frances McDormand). When Aeon is sent on a mission to kill a government leader, she uncovers a world of secrets. The exciting and evocative score for the film was composed by Graeme Revell, a master at exploring the dark side of such film worlds as Sin City and The Crow.

After the project bounced from Teddy Shapiro to Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek, Aeon Flux finally landed in Graeme Revell's studio, giving him another action flick to score in less than two weeks (remember Tomb Raider anyone?) Stylistically, the result is similar to Tomb Raider, with dominating electronics, but ends up being a more enjoyable listen. Beyond the electronics, Revell takes advantage of sliding cellos and solo vocals in the background to add an Asian feel ("Torture Garden"). Even some of the more ambient parts to the score have piano or other solo instruments accompanying the sounds, making the music easier to listen to ("Cloning Discovery").
